Seeing a movie at Disney’s El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood is always a treat! My family always looks forward to visiting this historic theater which exclusively shows Disney films. El Capitan is a beautiful theatre rich with history and presents pre-movie live shows as well as movie props and costumes (the memorabilia depends on the film). Disney’s Brave is currently playing at El Capitan Theatre through August 12, 2012 and it’s the perfect venue for families to see this fantastic film.
Accompanying the movie is an all-new stage show! The pre-show introduces the newest Disney character, Brave’s adventurous Merida. Show time is approx 15-20 minutes and features Disney Princesses, Toy Story characters and of course Mickey and Minnie! The performers were energetic and the kids cheered for their favorites! The musical skits were professionally done and were quite entertaining. The live Merida was playful and the performer had her screen swagger down to a T! At the end of the performance the audience was covered by confetti cannons! What kid doesn’t love confetti and streamers? What a segue.
Disney’s “Brave” is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands where the film’s headstrong protagonist, Merida, is forced to discover the meaning of true bravery. Merida is adventurous and I loved her perfect animated red hair! My daughter loved the action of the bears and my husband loved the humorous clans and the triplet brothers! El Capitan is one of 10 theatres to present Brave in Dolby® Atmos™, the latest sound technology from Dolby Laboratories. This sound technology coupled with the 3D technology made a noticeable difference. The sounds of the film buzzed all around us!
VIP Seating costs $26 which includes a reserved seat, a bucket of popcorn, and a drink. The pricing isn’t much more than what you pay at another movie theater and you get so much more! Plus every screening begins with music from the King of Instruments, the Mighty Wurlitzer organ. The film screens daily at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. General tickets are also available. Tickets can be purchased at the El Capitan box office (6838 Hollywood Blvd.), online at www.elcapitantickets.com, or by calling 1-800-DISNEY6. Special group-rate tickets for parties of 20 or more are available by calling 1-818-845-3110.
Spend the afternoon with Disney! Guests can also visit Disney’s Soda Fountain and Studio Store (adjacent to the theatre)! Join in the festivities by offering “The BRAVE Sundae”—crumbled shortbread, strawberry cheesecake ice cream, strawberry syrup, creamy marshmallow, whipped cream and a cherry on top. On select days Merida fans and El Capitan guests may also enjoy “Breakfast with Merida” at the Disney’s Soda Fountain & Studio Store prior to the 10 a.m. screening of “Brave.” Seating is limited and reservations are required.
