Lucasfilm has unveiled a brand-new trailer and poster for “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” giving fans their first look at Din Djarin and Grogu on the big screen. It’s been almost seven years since the release of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” so the release marks the the long-awaited theatrical return of the Star Wars franchise.

Set after the fall of the Empire, the story follows a fragile New Republic struggling to maintain order as scattered Imperial warlords continue to threaten the galaxy. To help protect what the Rebellion fought for, the government turns to legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.
Rather than revealing major plot twists, the first Mandalorian and Grogu trailer focuses on sweeping cinematic visuals, large-scale action, and the emotional bond between the two titular characters. Although there are a few notable moments worth mentioning like Din’s helmet coming off, which is taboo in the Mandlorian culture. A ship that looks like the Razor Crest – Din’s first ship before he switched over to a Naboo starfighter in season 3. “Star Wars: Rebel’s” Zeb, and Grogu eating some of those blue cookies. The film is a huge payoff for fans who have stuck by these characters when they were first introduced in the Mandalorian series when DIsney+ first launched in 2019.
Directed by Jon Favreau, “The Mandalorian and Grogu” features an ensemble cast that includes Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, Steve Blum returning as Star Wars Rebels hero Zeb Orrelios, and The Bear star Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, Jabba’s son. Favreau produces alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce, with Ludwig Göransson returning to compose the score.
“The Mandalorian and Grogu” premieres in theaters on May 22, 2026.
