Hello Kitty Meet the Artist Night + thatsitmommy = A very good time!

Most of the parties we go to are those of screaming 3 & 4 year olds. And although we secretly want to have adult friendly drinks at these parties just to block out the yelling, tugging and crying, we tough it out. Thatsitmommy.com decided to throw in the towel and take in some well deserved drinking along with some good company and a night off from our crazy I.T. girls.

Sit back, relax, and pour yourself a cup of your favorite drink and enjoy these quick Q&As with a few of the many artists we met at HK’s Meet The Artist Night presented by Three Apples at Royal/T. These artists signed the Three Apples Exhibition book which contains almost all the artwork displayed at the show.

thatsitmommy: What is your favorite color?

CD: Florescent pink and teal.

tim: Who is your favorite Sanrio character?

CD: Cinnamoroll. Actually, in Japan, they have this evil Cinnamoroll and his name is spelled backwards “Lloromannic” that’s pretty cool, but you can only find it in Japan.

tim: Did you ever collect the Sanrio erasers as a kid?

CD: I did, but I always would break them up into little pieces because I didn’t like to use pencils.

tim: Why did you decide to paint this piece?

D: I actually did it for my girlfriend. She mentioned that maybe I combine the two figures and go for it.

tim: What do you have planned before the end of the year?

D: My company To Die For Clothing has a table at DesignerCon on Sun., Nov. 21. I’ll be sharing a table with Greg “Craola” Simkins. We’ll be selling art and t-shirts.

tim: What is your favorite color?

AW: Black!

tim: If you had to live with one font for the rest of your life, what would it be?

AW: I’d have to say, Helvetica.

tim: Of all of your 9 paintings, which one is your favorite?

M: It’s like having children. You don’t pick a favorite. You like them for all different reasons.

tim: Do you have any kids?

M: No, I don’t, but I used to be a Pre-school teacher about 20 years ago.

tim: What’s your favorite color?

TH: Blue

tim: Are you self taught in your craft or have you had any formal training?

JH: I am self taught

tim: Do you currently collaborate with your brother on art pieces?

JH: I used to collaborate with him when we were younger, but we’re both so busy that we don’t get the chance to really. We actually recently collaborated together in Peekaboo’s Gallery.

tim: If you had to live with one font for the rest of your life, what would it be?

MC: Helvetica because it’s easy to read.

tim: What’s your favorite color?

MC: It depends on the day. Today, my favorite color is yellow.

tim: How long have you been a fan of HK?

MC: For as long as I can remember.

tim: Why the love for HK?

MI: Because I grew up in Japan loving Hello Kitty. She’s a pop icon there.

tim: Do you have kids?

MI: Yes, I have one – my daughter.

tim: Was she excited to learn that you were going to be part of the exhibit?

MI: Yes, she was so excited. I did this for her.

tim: Why the love for HK?

LC: I’m partial to Hello Kitty, but I’m definitely fond of what it’s created for itself.

tim: Are you a fan of HK?

PM: I grew up with an appreciation of it (HK). Hello Kitty symbolizes part of the Japanese culture. It has got that cute and edgy factor.

tim: Are you self taught in your craft or have you had any formal training?

PM: I’m self taught in painting, but I went to school for Graphic design. I don’t want to be told what to do so I decided to paint.

tim: Whose your favorite Sanrio character?

NF: I like Hello Kitty and Pochacco

tim: What is your favorite color?

NF: Pink, of course?!

tim: Are you self taught in your craft or have you had any formal training?

GB: I’m self taught and I just like to draw stupid pictures.
