The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of those horror franchises that has stood the test of time. No matter how many times it’s been rebooted, relaunched, and retconned, Leatherface finds its way to scare audiences while also addressing themes of violence against women, capitalism, and the American way of life. And while the title has been floating around as of late, it as found its way on Netflix. Now the streaming giant has released a new trailer for the film that acts as a sequel to obe Hooper’s 1974 classic “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”

The original “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” followed a group of friends who fall victim to a family of cannibals while on a trip to visit a family farm. As the group is attacked one by one, the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen), who wears a mask of human skin, the survivors must do everything they can to escape.
Now Netflix has laid claim to the franchise and relaunches it with a new title that is a direct title to the 1974 classic. Much like how the recent “Halloween” films are a direct sequel to the original John Carpenter “Halloween” film.
“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” is directed by David Blue Garcia, who uses a screenplay written by Chris Thomas Devlin, and based on a story by Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues.
Years later, a new group of friends ventures to the same remote town to start a new business venture. But all their hopes and dreams are cut into bloody pieces when they stumble upon Leatherface’s home. And when Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre, finds out about what’s happening, she is hell-bent carrying out her revenge.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre:”
Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents — including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.
“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” stars Sarah Yarkin, Elsie Fisher, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford, Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, with Olwen Fouéré, with Jacob Latimore, and Alice Krige.
Netflix has scheduled the sequel for February 18, 2022.
