Most surge protectors and power strips are not designed to handle adapter shape plugs and their design hasn’t really changed too much to accommodate them. I’ve seen some models that work for square shaped adapters, but not able to work with rectangular ones and vise versa. The Powramid Air by Accell is designed differently to handle the adapter problem and all you power source needs. The Air is much flatter than Accell’s other models like the Powramid 6, which is a bit taller and bulky.
Powramid Air functions in three very useful capacities:
• Desktop Power Center
• Surge Protector
• USB Charging Station
Desktop Power Center.
It has six grounded and adapter spaced outlets that will not get blocked or make it difficult to plug an adapter into one of the outlets. Combined with its circular shape and design, it can handle pretty much any adapter size. It has a 6 foot grounded power cord and on/off power button in the center.
Surge Protector.
Features 1080 joules surge protection with resettable circuit breaker. On the side of the unit there is a red push button 15 AMP circuit breaker that can be used to reset the circuit breaker. To protect itself from damage, the Powramid Air will turn off should a plugged-in device malfunction or total power drain exceeds 1875 Watts.
USB Charging Station.
There are two USB 2.4A charging ports on the front edge, that will support all USB devices including smartphones and tablets. Feature smart chip technology. It identifies and optimizes the charging power of your electronic devices for ultra-fast charging.
The Powramid Air also has two LEDs, a Green and Blue. The Green LED (POWER) indicates the power status, while the Blue LED (PROTECTED) indicates the surge protection status. The base is skid and scratch resistant, which should help protect the case from damage.
I think that the design is perfect for a desk or cubicle. It would fit perfectly on the bottom corner or top corner of a cubicle, right on the floor or in back of a monitor. I really like the slim and modern design. Since I have a bunch of game consoles and hard drive units, I could plug six devices into one surge protector instead of only four. The Powramid Air is easy to travel with but the shape might make it challenging to pack, since the bar-shaped surge protectors were pretty easy to fit into the sides of my luggage. The power button in the center seems a little bit large, but I didn’t have any issues with this when using the unit.
Do you get the most out of your surge protector or power strip? Are those bulky adapter plugs taking more than one outlet and blocking a perfectly usable one? Need more outlets that’s a space saver for your college dorm, living or workspace? The Powramid could save the day!
The Powramid Air is available in two colors (Black and White) and retails for around $35.00.
