LG unveiled their new LG Signature product line up at their press conference on Tuesday, just before the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) opened. Unveiled were 4 beautifully designed appliances that blend technology and style together into a single product.
I had arranged a booth tour to get a better look and information on these new products and how they fit into the LG Signature line. One thing I immediately noticed about the appliances in the LG Signature line are the control panels. Many of them are designed to be very subtle and tucked away, creating clean surfaces. The kitchen appliances have a brushed stainless steel surface, while the washer and dryer have a shinier stainless steel surface.
• LG Signature Refrigerator. LG has added an opaque Door-in-Door compartment with a very unique feature. The Knock-On feature lets you see peer through the glass door. With a simply knock on the glass door becomes transparent giving you an instant view of the interior of the fridge without opening it.
The Auto Door feature is another cool addition. Located at the base of the refrigerator, this sensor can open the door automatically with just your foot and will automatically close the door after a few seconds. Very handy if your arms a full of groceries and need that extra hand to open the door.
The interior of the refrigerator is also composed of stainless steel to retain the cold longer and more efficiently to keep food fresh longer. The freezer has French door and drawer shelves that move forward when opened and recede when closing door or automatically after a few seconds.
• LG Signature Washing Machine and Dryer. LG Twin Wash features a unique smaller washer below the main washer along users to do two separate loads of laundry. Both washers are independent of each other and can be used at the same time. Features include LG’s proprietary Centrum System, which improves durability and energy efficiency. Reduced tub vibrations and noise levels during the wash cycle using an advanced suspension system.
The dryer has a similar look and design as the washer. The bottom compartment of the dryer can be used for storage since it does not include a second dryer unit below.
During the press conference, the Twin washer that was revealed was the European version. This version looks different from the U’S. version in design and features. This one is a little bit compact in size, includes a Push Open door feature and a Quick Circle User Interface touch panel embedded on the glass door.
• LG Signature Air Purifier. Features a transparent panel with Aqua Cyclone feature; semi-permanent filter system that allows the user to remove, wash and reuse the filter for up to 10-years; Smart PM 1.0 Indicator of four different colors of light, located around the control panel, to indicate the concentration of dust particles in the air.
• LG Signature OLED TV. This television has a smooth, elegant and sleek design with a super thin display panel. It really is amazing how thin it is when you view it from the side. It features everything you expect from LG’s OLED TV technology: HDR capabilities, peak luminance, black levels, wide color gamut and immersive audio, Pixel Dimming, 10-bit panel/10-bit processing power, ColorPrime Pro and new webOS 3.0.
The streamlined design hides the cords and stand behind the speaker, which is placed at the base of the television panel. The design and small size of the speaker does not effect the dynamic sound quality.
Two other items that are part of the LG Signature line were displayed on the show floor as well. These were the stove and dishwasher. Both feature the clean, sleek and stylish design as the refrigerator. A thing you will notice about the dishwasher is that it doesn’t look like a dishwasher. If you open the door of the dishwasher, you will see the control panel on the edge of the door. The top of the stove looks more like a grill than a traditional stove top.
One other appliance I was introduced to on the show floor was the LG Styler Steam Closet. Keep your clothes fresh in between dry cleaning by using this machine. For those times when you are in a rush to make a hot date, you can set it to do a quick cleaning in about 10 minutes. A normal cleaning will take quite a bit longer to dry your clothes. The one pictured is two units side-by-side, but there is a unit that is much larger than this one.
