Attending a talk show is one of the fun things to do in Hollywood. I recently attended a taping of my favorite late night show Jimmy Kimmel Live and it was a blast. I’ve sat in the audience in the past but this time I sat in a VIP area where we mingled with members of the creative team, had food and drinks and laughed our butts off during the taping.
The guests for the evening were Sally Fields and Julia Roberts as well as musical guest Future Islands. What was really cool was that a new segment aired for the first-time-ever called, “Celebrity Curse-Off”. Wouldn’t you pay money to see Sally Fields throw out a few “bad” words?? Yes, the TV viewing audience watched the bleeped versions from home, but I was one of the lucky few to have heard the unbleeped version live and it was priceless!!
We also had a chance to talk to the show’s Executive Producer Jill Leiderman as well as Molly McNearney the co-head writer. Leiderman talked to about their roles, “Our job is to be Jimmy’s support staff and to make sure that the train arrives on time”. It was obvious that the team behind Jimmy Kimmel Live are passionate about their work and make the show run as smoothly as possible for Jimmy, the guests and the viewers and of course write funny content.
The band Future Islands was a nice way to end the taping. They played two singles and they rocked it! One of the highlights of the event (other than hearing Sally fields curse in stereo) was stepping on set and getting to sit in the guest chair on Jimmy’s set! What was even more exciting? Sitting in that chair with Jimmy Kimmel for a photo. He surprised all of us by taking individual photos which was amazing! I will never forget this fun experience but I wish they included a mean tweets segment, I know it’s probably evil but I love the celebrity guests expressions while they are reading tweets about themselves!!
I highly recommend attending a taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live when you are in the Hollywood area. It’s free and I promise that you will have a blast or watch from the comforts of home. Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. EST/PST on ABC! T
