DISNEY’S “THE LION KING” LIKE NEVER BEFORE…

OUR THOUGHTS: I’m sure Lion King is one of Disney’s most popular movies. Can you believe that I only saw the award winning film for the first time this year? I attended the premiere of the 3D version at D23 with my daughter. This majestic and entertaining movie did not disappoint. For the first time families can now enjoy Lion King on Disney Blu-ray™ Hi-Def and Blu-ray 3D™ in the comforts of their own home.
The storyline following Simba finding his way through the circle life is breathtaking. The movie is rated G but I do feel that the movie is best suited for kids 6 and up. Some scenes are scary and the stampede of wildebeest trampling scene can be upsetting for younger children. The hyenas are hysterical but my four-year-old found them to be a little “yucky”. The animation is colorful and eye popping. My favorite characters are definitely Timon and Pumbaa. Recent animated movies do a decent job at throwing in some humor for mom and dad. And let’s not forget the award-winning music! My daughter’s favorite song is of course “Hakuna Matata.”
Families can share this story of courage, friendship and nature over and over on their family movie nights. I wanted to watch the 2D version from this set since I saw it in 3D. I actually prefer the 2D and not wearing the glasses. Maybe I’m just old school.
There are so many memorable quotes from this movie. One of mine is:
Pumbaa: It’s our motto.
Young Simba: What’s a motto?
Timon: Nothing. What’s a motto with you?
One of my favorite moments is when Zazu sings Scar a song: “It’s a small world after all. No, no! Anything but that! I’ve got a lovely bunch of cocunuts” That’s the best!!

Nearly a decade since “The Lion King” last appeared on the big screen, the upcoming theatrical release invites new generations into the “Circle of Life.” The two-week, 3D-only presentation is a planned wide domestic release—the biggest since the film’s 1994 debut—and the film’s first-ever 3D release.
The Blu-ray debut marks the first time “The Lion King” has been available in any form since 2004. Featuring pristine high definition picture and sound, the Blu-ray creates an incredible at-home experience with a host of picture and sound enhancements, interactive features and bonus content, including a new set of hilarious animated bloopers.
“The Lion King”: Diamond Edition home entertainment release will be available from the Disney Vault for a limited time only beginning October 4 as follows:

And the one-disc DVD Edition will be available on November 15.
“The Lion King,” first released in 1994, won the Oscar® for Best Original Score (Hans Zimmer) and Best Original Song (Elton John/Tim Rice “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”), earning Golden Globes® in both categories, as well as for Best Motion Picture—Comedy or Musical.

My favorite character on Lion King is Simba. My favorite scene is when he’s feeling down and his dad’s face appears in the sky and speaks to him. It makes me cry every time(: this is by far my favorite move :P. We’ve named our cat Simba because of it lol.
