The 4th of July is just around the corner and I thought I would do an Independence Day inspired art project with Gavin. We will miss the fireworks celebrations for the second year in a row, but that didn’t stop us from bringing the fireworks to our home in England!
Supplies you will need:
– Paper
– Paint, any color
– Pipe cleaners
– Something to put the paint on
– Glitter, optional
If your child is not old enough to help make the “firecracker stamp”, it would be a good idea to have these already made. Otherwise you may have pipe cleaners all over the place AND find some smooshed because they resemble legs from a spider! Um…I may or may not be speaking from experience! {sigh}
To make the “firecracker stamp” you will need to cut the pipe cleaners down to the desired size and crisscross them to make a star-like shape. I just used another pipe cleaner to hold them together and make a handle.
We used red, white, and blue paint to get into the Patriotic spirit and black paper for a night sky! I created three sets of “stamps” and put each color onto a different plate. It didn’t take long for our stamps to get mixed in the wrong color, but that is okay!
Get ready to create your own fireworks display! Dip your pipe cleaners into the paint and stamp away! We sprinkled glitter on top of the paint for more effect! The end result will look like fireworks bursting in air!
This was a simple and fun project to do! There are so many things you can stamp – cards, posters, and even t-shirts!
What 4th of July crafts will you be creating this year?
Happy Independence Day!
