We got the chance to join in on Zoo Friday Nights at the Los Angeles Zoo, which runs from 6 to 9 pm. The evening was filled with live music, dancing, games, and all sorts of fun! My family had a blast exploring the zoo’s plants and animals.
We kicked off our night at one of the many food trucks. I’m a huge fan of Korean food, so I went straight for Rice Balls of Fire, a Korean fusion truck, where I grabbed a bulgogi grilled cheese, spam musubi, and some other tasty items! It was delicious. There were also other trucks like Kona Ice, Cousins Maine Lobster, and Wetzel’s Pretzels.
We enjoyed some tunes from an 80s cover band called Flashback Heart Attack, who rocked out with hits from The Cars and J Geils. It was great seeing both adults and kids getting their groove on!
There were plenty of games for the kids along with educational stations and crafts to enjoy!
Some of the animal exhibits were open, so we checked out amphibians, invertebrates, and reptiles in the Liar. The meerkats were adorable on their lookout posts and I was especially thrilled to see a Maned Wolf for the first time – they’re super interesting! Fun fact: they’re neither wolves nor foxes; they’re the only species in the Chrysocyon genus!
Alcoholic drinks are available at the event, so remember to drink responsibly if you partake! There are charging stations scattered around the zoo if you run out of power. Oh, and you have to try a churro from the churro factory—but in my opinion the donut sundae is to die for!
