If you are planning a getaway to Long Beach, California then you must check out the Hotel Maya.
Hotel Maya, a DoubleTree by Hilton property, is a resort-style hotel with the largest man-made beach in Long Beach. With 14 acres of grass, palm trees and sand, you will feel like you are transported to an Island getaway when you are just a 25 minute drive from Downtown Los Angeles!
Truly a wonderful staycation option for families or couples, the Hotel Maya has outdoor fire pits, colorful beach umbrellas, chaise lounges and day beds that will make you feel as though you flew away to a tropical resort. I loved this hotel. The location is perfect, the rooms are really nice, the food is delicious and the grounds are spectacular.
You’ll know your visit will be special as soon as you enter the huge, open reception area decorated with a hip, Latin boutique resort feel. The fun and colorful décor whisks you away immediately – your getaway has begun.
Hotel Maya has 199 guest rooms with ocean-view and garden balconies available. During our stay, we were upgraded to the presidential suite which featured 1 bedroom, a king-sized bed, a sitting area with a pull-out sofa, TV, a large living area with another TV, a kitchen and a breakfast bar, full bath, and two fabulous patios for optimal views of the waterfront. The suite was clean and spacious with laminate hard wood floors. This room would be perfect for a bigger family. Since our room was located on the first floor, we did hear foot traffic and there was a holiday party at the restaurant. But everything settled down so all was quiet by around 10 pm.
We were pampered in our room with extra amenities, including a coffee maker, iPod docking stations, robes and a DIY S’mores Kit. In the morning I snuck out the glass doors of our room to sit outside and take in the sunset from our private patio.
The Hotel Maya grounds feature a heated pool, Jacuzzi and amazing floating cabanas overlooking the ocean. Guest can rent the cabanas for parties from 11am-6pm. We stayed after hours and lounged in the cabanas. I didn’t want to leave!
We put our s’mores kit to use at the hotel’s two giant fire pits. One night we made our desserts and took in the cityscape views across the Bay from our very own beach. It was such a cool adventure for adults and kids alike.
The on-site restaurant called Fuego offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu items range from traditional to modern and Latin-infused. We had a nice breakfast. My daughter chose the buffet which offered traditional breakfast items plus breads, cereals, and yogurts. I ordered a $15 build-your-own omelet from the menu. The meal was delicious, the serving sizes were plentiful and the service attentive. We also received warm cookies upon check-in. Thank you!!
The Hotel Maya is conveniently located a short walk to Long Beach attractions. I walked with my daughter across the bridge for about 12 minutes to reach Shoreline Village Whale watching. There is also The Pike and Aquarium. If you prefer not to walk, there is also the option of the Queen Mary free shuttle service or Passport bus.
Hotel Maya is located at 700 Queensway Drive, Long Beach, CA 90802.For more information about the Hotel Maya, check out their official website or make a reservation at http://www.hotelmayalongbeach.com or like http://www.facebook.com/hotelmaya
