My four year old is a huge Shrek Fan. We have watched all the movies over and over again and even have the soundtrack in our car. So we were both very excited to review the new Scared Shrekless DVD. It was an added bonus that it came with another favorite of ours, Monsters vs. Aliens Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space. We were pleasantly surprised when the box arrived and contained not only the DVD’s, but Shrek gloves and ears, Ogre Snot (green licorice), Donkey Droppings (green jellybeans), Swamp slugs (gummy worms), a pack of microwave popcorn and a Shrek Trick or Treat candy holder! Adeline instantly wanted to watch Shrek with all the goodies so we put it on and enjoyed the slightly less than 1/2 hour Halloween special. I admit I actually enjoyed it too. The old horror film parodies such as Psycho and The Exorcist were hilarious, although they went right over Adeline’s head. Next we watched Monsters vs Aliens Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space which is also a great kid friendly Halloween visual treat. I love that both movies feature the original star-studded cast of voices plus high quality animation. They are both perfect for kids of all ages and I think parents will also get a laugh out of them. These movies were a great way for us to enjoy a creepy and fun but not super scary Halloween Movie Night.
