Paramount+ has released a new trailer for “The Tiger’s Apprentice.” Based on Laurence Yep’s series of children’s novels, the animated film is scheduled to be released on February 2, 2024.
The film follows a Chinese-American Tom Lee (Soo Hoo), who has trouble fitting in high school because bullies give him such a hard time. However, those days are over when he is able to stop one of them using hidden powers that he never knew existed. Tom’s life becomes a bit more complicated when a mysterious man named Hu (Henry Golding) tells him that he learns he comes from a long lineage of magical protectors known as the Guardians. While Tom can’t believe it at first, Hu convinces him by transforming into a tiger.
With his new his newly discovered powers, Tom is confident he can pass his training with ease. But as the trailer shows, it will be quite deadly. And he comes to find out that Hu isn’t the only one who can transform into one of the animals of the Chinese Zodiac. With the help of the other 11 members of the Chinese Zodiac, Tom must fend off a great evil who has been trying to destroy humanity for thousands of years.
The action-adventure film stars Henry Golding (The Old Guard 2), Brandon Soo Hoo (Mech Cadets) and Lucy Liu (Shazam: Fury of the Gods) with Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh (Quiz Lady) and Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once). It also stars Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live), Leah Lewis (Elemental), Kheng Hua Tan (Crazy Rich Asians), Sherry Cola (Joy Ride), Deborah S. Craig (Meet Cute), Jo Koy (The Monkey King), Greta Lee (Past Lives), Diana Lee Inosanto (The Mandalorian), Patrick Gallagher (Night at the Museum) and Poppy Liu (The Afterparty).
Directed by Raman Hui and co-directed by Paul Watling and Yong Duk Jhun with a screenplay by David Magee and Christopher Yost and music by Steve Jablonsky, “The Tiger’s Apprentice” hits Paramount+ on February 2, 2023.
