Sony recently celebrated the release of their film A Dog’s Way Home on Blu-Ray! I was invited to attend their pawtastic event at The Dog Bakery in Los Angeles with guest of honor Shelby who stars as “Bella” the star of the movie! Another special treat was a baking lesson given by Rocky Kanaka host of CW’s SAVE our SHELTER and Founder of The Dog Bakery.
I enjoy being around other dog lovers who clearly consider their pets members of their families. My two dogs are definitely my fur babies and I love to spoil them. I was eager to attend the event with my daughter, learn some dog training tips and to make doggie treats! BTW. I took the ChipWich home to my dogs and it was a hit!
Thanks to The Dog Bakery for sharing their Doggie ChipWich recipe!
Things you will need:
PB Carob Chip Cookies:
1 1⁄4 C Wheat Flour
1/2 t Baking Soda
1/2 t Baking Powder
1⁄4 C Peanut Butter
1⁄4 C Honey
1⁄2 C Applesauce
1/4 C Carob Chips
Peanut Butter Ice Cream Filling:
1 container plain Greek yogurt
1/4 C Peanut Butter
Set your oven at 325 degrees.
To make the cookie batter:
Mix peanut butter and honey in KitchenAid with a paddle (or if you don’t have a KitchenAid, you can stir by hand). Then add applesauce and mix just until incorporated. In a separate bowl combine all dry ingredients. Add into peanut butter mixture in two additions, scraping the bowl with a spatula after the first addition. Add in Carob Chips last and mix thoroughly.
Now for the assembly:
Scoop dough with a small scoop onto a sheet pan covered with parchment. Place the second sheet of parchment on top and flatten cookies with another sheet pan. Take parchment off.
Bake at 325 for 12-15 minutes.
While the cookies are in the oven, mix together greek yogurt and peanut butter and put it in the piping bags. Put piping bag filled with yogurt in the freezer to harden slightly.
As cookies cool layout carob chips in a small bowl. When the cookies are cool to the touch, put the ice cream mixture inside to form a sandwich. Working quickly, roll out the cookies in prepared carob chip plate to cover the sides with more carob chips.
A Dog’s Way Home is about the special bond between a loyal dog and her owner. Bella is separated from Lucas on goes on an epic journey to find him. As a dog lover and owner of two rescue dogs, this movie definitely tugged on my heartstrings. You can now own this title on Blu-Ray, DVD and digital download!
