Disney has released a new trailer for “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” season 2. The animated series sees the return of its titular rogue troop of specialized and genetically enhanced clones who are currently on the run from the Empire. The trailer reveals some of the new adventures Hunter, Omega, and the rest of the gang are on as they try to survive while the Galactic Empire expands its reach across the galaxy.
As always, the crew will reunite with friends and foe alike, while making some new alliances and confronting new enemies as well. While we can expect new adventures, the series will also revisit some familiar themes like loyality, as Crosshair continues to question those that even hint at opposing the Empire. And we all know what happens to those who challenge the Empire in front of him.
It should be interesting to see how much of an impact the show will have on the Star Wars mythology as a whole. We already know that it is a prequel that doesn’t concern itself as much with the Jedi and Sith – although we do get to see a Wookie use the Force to pull a lightsaber towards him. And season one brought a few familiar faces like Hera and Kanan from “Star Wars Rebels.” Even Fennic Shand and Cad Bane made an appearance. So, we can expect to see cameos that would link or even help expand upon the mythology.
“Star Wars: The Bad Batch” season 2 stars Emmy Award® nominee Dee Bradley Baker (“American Dad!”) as the voice of the Bad Batch and Emmy Award® nominee Michelle Ang (“Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462”) as the voice of Omega. Emmy Award® winner Rhea Perlman (“The Mindy Project,” “Cheers”) returns to guest star as Cid, Noshir Dalal (“It’s Pony,” “The Owl House”) returns to guest star as Vice Admiral Rampart and Emmy Award® winner Wanda Sykes (“The Upshaws,” “Black-ish”) makes her guest starring debut in the series as Phee Genoa.
“Star Wars: The Bad Batch” is executive produced by Dave Filoni (“The Mandalorian,” “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”), Athena Portillo (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels”), Brad Rau (“Star Wars Rebels,” “Star Wars Resistance”), Jennifer Corbett (“Star Wars Resistance,” “NCIS”) and Carrie Beck (“The Mandalorian,” “Star Wars Rebels”) with Josh Rimes (“Star Wars Resistance,” “Star Wars: Visions”) and Alex Spotswood (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels”) as producers. Rau is also serving as supervising director with Corbett as head writer and Matt Michnovetz as story editor.
“Star Wars: The Bad Batch” streams exclusively on Disney+ beginning January 4, 2023, with the first two episodes. There are a total of 15 episodes.
