Have you heard of USB-C?
In case you haven’t, USB-C is/will be the new industry standard connector and cable replacing the current USB connectors and cables. It supports DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA, USB and power. USB-C connectors and ports are much smaller which allows for thinner laptop designs. Some laptops are already using this new USB type, like the new Apple MacBooks, and more companies are going to be using this on future portable/mobile devices.
The PowerGear USB-C 45 is the world’s first USB-C adapter supporting four DC output voltages out on the market today. This is the most flexible laptop adapter compatible with Apple MacBook, Acer, ASUS, Dell and HP models.
Package contents include:
• PowerGear USB-C 45 with 1.5m DC output Cable
• AC Input Cable
• Travel Pouch
• User Manual
The PowerGear USB-C 45 has four different voltage/current output levels:
• 20V/2.25A
• 15V/3A
• 12V/3A
• 5V/3A
Since it supports four different DC output levels, it works perfectly with both my MacBook and Dell. It’s a great portable power adapter for when you are on-the-go or travelling. I can leave the original power cords at home and just keep this one in my backpack to use where ever I go, no matter which laptop I take with me.
It is small and compact with a design that keeps it neat, functional and durable. The 4.9 foot cable is made of advanced materials to wrap around the unit without loosening. There is a clip to keep the cable wrapping in place. It does get a little warm when in use, but my other power cords and chargers do the same thing.
The PowerGear USB-C 45 has been produced using Innergie’s built-in safety technology, InnerShield™ Power Protection and GreenSense™, Green Energy. As your device is using the PowerGear USB-C 45, it is protected from: Over Current, Over Voltage, Over Temperature and Short Circuit Protection. While GreenSense™ efficiently helps reduce your energy costs and carbon footprint to help save the planet.
It has a reversible plug which can be inserted into the plug without having to check if you have it the right side up. Makes it easy to use without having to look and mess with, which is great.
Should your device have a single USB-C port, like the MacBook, then you will need a USB adapter to use a USB flash drive. Innergie plans on releasing a Lightning connector adapter.
PowerGear USB-C 45 retails for around $59.99.
