A portable/mobile battery is one of those accessories that you must have with you at all times now days. It could be a phone case with a battery pack or an external device. You just never know when your electronic device will run out of power.
So it’s nice to have a portable battery pack like the Power Plus 3 produced by cheero. This is a premium quality, high capacity (13400mAh) portable battery charger. It uses a high grade, Panasonic Lithium ion battery and comes with a USB-Micro USB charging cable.
The battery is compact (3.62″ x 3.14″ x 0.9″) and pretty lightweight (8.64 oz). Perfect for traveling and easy to carry in a bag or backpack, but might be a little tight to fit in a pocket. The Power Plus 3 is encased in a fireproof plastic material (UL 94V-0) just in case there is a fire within the hardware.
It features two USB output ports: USB1-DC 5V/1A and USB2-DC 5V/2.4A. So you can charge two devices at the same time. There is one Micro USB input port for recharging the battery pack.
There are four small LED indicator lights on the top of the casing. The indicators lights will show you how much power is remaining in the battery pack when the power button is pressed and when it is charging.
Some other features the Power Plus 3 has are protection functions. Automatic shutdown at overcharge, overdischarge, short circuit heating automatic shutdown at completion of device charge.
It takes about eight hours to fully charge the Power Plus 3 and took about an hour and a half to fully charge my iPhone 5s, from 3% to 100%. The indicator lights were at three after my iPhone had been charged. So it should have another few more charges in it. The charge can last for days without recharging. I used it off-and-on for a little over a week before I had to recharged it again.
The manufacturer says that it can charge an iPhone 5 up to five times and usage up to 500 times. Which is quite possible. I have another high capacity, portable battery pack that is much bulkier than the Power Plus 3 that can charge up to five times or a bit more. But I like that the Power Plus 3 is slimmer and more lightweight.
I really like the design of the device and the environmentally friendly packaging it comes in. It is very compact, just secure enough to keep the device safe from damage and packaged with very little fluff.
The price of the cheero Power Plus 3 is about $35-$40, which is a pretty good price for portable battery of this quality and design.
I wasn’t too familiar with cheero and their products, but the Japanese company has been around for about 4 years and mainly produces, designs and sells peripherals for smart phones and tablets, mainly portable/mobile batteries. I have seen them exhibit at CES and Anime Expo a couple of times. I was mostly familiar with their portable battery line modeled after the popular anime character Danboard. They come in many different designs and styles.
