Sprout Baby was created by celebrity chef and dad, Tyler Florence as an organic food alternative for infants who are transitioning from breastmilk and formula to the first stage of solid foods. Companies are now venturing into making their facilities and their products eco-friendly and overall, healthy. What a better way to introduce a healthy way of living to the kids of the future when Sprout Baby can help us out. Sprout Baby also offers a variety of products for the home, as well as, diapering products that can be purchased via their site.
Sprout Baby was kind enough to send thatsitmommy samples of their organic baby food to try out and review. Here is a list of flavors they included: Roasted Apples, Baked Sweet Potatoes, Oatmeal with Roasted Cinnamon Applesauce and Sweet Peas with Garden Green Beans. Because our girls are a little older for the age the packet recommends, we enlisted a reader of ours to help out with this review.
Please meet Hudson, our tester and Rowena, the mommy. They were kind enough to help us try out the food and give us their honest opinion about it.
1) How old is Hudson? And can you give us a quick bio on him.
Rowena: Hudson is 10 months old. He’s very active and loves to play with his big brother. He’s chatty and wants to do all the big boy things. He already has 6 teeth but he’s not too into eating as much yet, still loves his milk. But when it does come to food he loves squash.
2) What flavors did he try and did he like or dislike any of them. Was it the texture, flavor, smell, etc.?
Rowena: He tried the roasted apples, oatmeal with roasted applesauce and sweet potatoes. It’s weird because it took several bites for him to get used to the texture of the oatmeal (since it was the thickest) but after that it turned out to be his favorite. He ate all the other flavor just fine as well. (I tried them too — just because I have this thing where I have to try anything new that I feed to my baby — I have to say the roasting gives the food a more sophisticated flavor as compared to other baby foods).
3) Is the packaging convenient?
Rowena: Yes, very convenient, good to travel with. But, it would’ve been better if they could’ve sealed the zip top before they sealed the entire package because it got a little messy. You can see what I mean in the pictures — the food was coming out of the zip top so if you were to save and seal up the food it would be smashed in and out of the zip, sorry that’s a pet peeve of mine.
4) As a parent, are you an all organic, non-organic or a mixture of both kind of a mom?
Rowena: Mixture of both. When it comes to regular milk we go for the organic. For food, we have to mix it up because organic is too pricey most of the time.
5) Have you tried Sprout Baby’s organic food before?
Rowena: No.
6) Were you curious enough to try the food? If so, can you tell us a little bit about that?
Rowena: Yes, because it’s Tyler Florence! Gotta try a Food TV chef recipe right 🙂
7) Would you recommend this product to other moms?
Rowena: Yes, if the price is right. There’s a lot of organic, dha, blah blah good baby food out there right now so as long as it is competitvely priced then we’ll be satisfied.
Rowena and Hudson give Sprout Baby a “THATSIT” award for rocking Hudson’s taste buds.
thatsitmommy wants to thank Sprout Baby for the samples of great baby food and to testers, Rowena and Hudson for being such good sports.
Have you or your child tried out any of Sprout Baby’s products? If so, leave us a comment here and tell our readers your experience. We’d love to hear from you.

Thank you for reviewing this product! I’ve heard about it and will suggest to all my mommy friends.
Hudson is so cute!
As a parent, I’m glad to know the options for organic baby food are expanding! Hudson is such a photogenic little dude!
Food sounds tasty and healthy. Hudson is a cute baby.
Maybe daughter Reese is 7.5 months and loves it! Her favorites so far are the bannana mango and the oatmeal with roasted apple cinnamin!
