We attended this event at Irwingdale Speedway for editorial purposes.
Our hearts were racing with the Christmas spirit at SANTA’S SPEEDWAY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS DRIVE-THRU at the Irwindale Motor Speedway in the heart of San Gabriel Valley. Now through January 10, the Speedway offers miles of lights and sparkly holiday displays.
Transformed into a sparkling winter wonderland, the Speedway has an awe-inspiring 100-foot Christmas Tree dripping with lights, a massive drive-thru tunnel, and holiday treats for all ages! One of my favorite areas is the Christmas barn which houses Santa’s “reindeer.”
Kids and adults will get a kick out of driving along a real motorsport track! While I would have loved to put the pedal to the metal and take some of those hairpin turns, for this experience riders need to keep maintain a 5 mile per hour speed limit.
To maximize your holiday cheer factor, you are instructed to turn off your headlights and tune into station 89.7 to sing along to holiday music. Each car will receive a fun scavenger hunt card. Make sure to pass it back to your kids so they can find the highlighted items throughout the 2-mile tour. There is even a 3D option to enhance your experience. We didn’t try that, but glasses are $3 a pair at the entrance if you are interested.
I’m extremely grateful to businesses who are getting creative this winter by offering safe, holiday event options for the community to get into the spirit.
Entry is $59 per car load (with a maximum of 8 people) for the en”lighting” experience on a real NASCAR racetrack. Driving along the outer track was stunning as the entire illuminated venue came into view. The sheer size of this exhibit is thrilling, and this experience stood out from the rest of the holiday light shows. Hopefully one day soon we can sit in the stands to cheer the professionals rounding the track.
