Sanrio announces the grand re-opening of their store in the Little Tokyo Japanese Village Plaza, in Downtown Los Angeles! Sanrio Little Tokyo will have activities that will take place the weekend of August 25-27. There will be character appearances for photo ops with Hello Kitty, giveaways and gifts with purchase while supplies last.
The original Sanrio store space has been re-imagined and redesigned with bold graphics and adorable props throughout the space that is made for photo ops, such as the huge Gudetama in the center of the store, and sharing across social media platforms. The layout of the new store is clean, stylish, hip and very inviting, that is separated into two areas.
The front area of the store is the go-to space for all things Sanrio – offering a variety of products from beloved characters Hello Kitty, My Melody, Chococat, Kerropi, and many others; along side exciting product from newcomers Gudetama and Aggretsuko. Speaking of those two characters, you can find Gudetama products all over the place and Aggretsuko has been getting really popular lately.
If you are doing some back-to-school shopping and looking for some backpacks or bags, I would suggest heading over to the store for some of your shopping. They have some really cute designs and some of them are on sale.
The rear area of the store is a unique “flex” space that will be re-imagined into an area for installations, pop-up shops, and events, the first of these being the Sanrio Kawaii Mart. This convenience store-syled market, makes its debut during the grand opening, is modeled after both Japanese and American convenience stores and inspired by the pop-up Hello Kitty Yata Supermarket in Hong Kong. The Sanrio Kawaii Mart will offer a diverse array of Sanrio branded products, such as candy, beverages, snacks, cookie mix, beauty products from Korea, car accessories, Gudetama toilet paper and Hello Kitty diapers! They even have the Hello Kitty soy sauce with the gift box. Sanrio Kawaii Mart will be open through the Fall, at which time the flex space will transform into a new concept.
The store carries a wide selection of Sanrio products, like hello sanrio bags and the popular pyoconoru plush to collaboration branded products like Tokidoki x Sanrio and Strawberry Shortcake and Hello Kitty.
There are even a few exclusive items at the store and this NYLON x Sanrio jacket.
These cute little plates seem to come with its own little bags.
During the private grand re-opening party I attended for the Sanrio Little Tokyo location, I was able to pickup a bunch of the pyoconoru plush that I missed getting at SDCC. They even had a bunch that were not on the Sanrio online store too. These things are so darn cute and can hang over almost anything, like a computer monitor (my mac monitor is a bit messy and cluttered for them to look nice).
There were photo ops with Hello Kitty in a kimono outfit and the Nisei Week Queen and Princesses made an appearance during the opening festivities too.
