DVD Features:
Disc One is the movie, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never Director’s Fan Cut, presented in wide screen. You can’t deny Justin’s star quality. Even those who have doubted his abilities will be drawn into his charm, scrappiness, can-do attitude and genuine talent. The movie shows him at shows, behind the scenes and with friends and co-workers. The DVD makes one of the biggest pop stars of our day seem approachable, down-to-earth and quite hilarious…not to mention thoughtful, gracious, and an dynamic performer.
Disc Two:
The Disc Two components include: Evolution Of A Tour: A behind-the-scenes look at the tremendous effort that went into mounting Justin Bieber’s My World Tour, including footage of the rehearsals, dance training and more; Day Of The Concert, where we follow Justin as he prepares for the biggest concert of his career; More Less Lonely Girls, in which Justin sings to lucky fans across the country, most of them ecstatic, blubbering teens and tweens; Life on the Road, which allows us to hang out with Justin in this unique peek at what his life is like on a daily basis; Sound Check Parties, an all-access look at the exclusive pre-show parties; The Dougie, a delightfully funny montage of Justin and Team Bieber doing their best Dougie-dances; The Rocket Ship Girls, which gives us a closer look at some of Justin’s biggest fans, and Can You Sing “Baby”? where Justin performs “Baby” for his golden ticket-winning fans. Even I was singing along by the end of it! Lastly, in White Chocolate Interview, Justin hangs out with his friends and we get a look at what he is like outside of the concert arena. Also, The Director: Jon M. Chu discusses his process in bringing Justin’s life to the big screen.
The special release for Target also includes a Justin Bieber purple heart necklace (his signature color and symbol) that says, “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never.”
I have to admit, my older girls (8 and 6) didn’t know much about Justin Bieber or his music before watching the video. They’ve always been aware of his presence and their peers’ extreme affinity for the cutie crooner, but he wasn’t much a part of their world. Something tells me this will change after watching these two DVDs with them, though. They were easily enraptured by the pace of the video, which takes us from stage to rehearsal to behind the scenes fairly quickly, entertaining and amazing the viewer with Justin’s capabilities and maturity. The girls sat enthralled while he sang, and giggled over his prankster antics behind the scenes. I was drawn in as well. I’d always assumed he was just a kid who’d been given a gift of a record contract and was riding the wave. However, it’s clear in the video that he did a lot of footwork and endured a lot of nos at record companies before finally catching a break. Indeed, the only gift he’s been given, it seems, is his incredible voice and musical talent (he plays more than 4 instruments— who knew?!), as well as his determination to be successful in the music industry.
After we had watched it from beginning to end, my daughters were still smiling. “What did you think?” I asked. “AWESOME!” they both cooed at the same time. And so he is. From his sweet smile, signature hairdo, incredible voice, vibrant performances and his love of all those who have helped him on his rise to fame (including his fans, who he adores), Justin Bieber is awesome. His message of “Never Say Never” is one for young and old to take to heart, and as a mother of young daughters, I would let them watch it again and again. I think we’ve got two less lonely girls in this household!
