I love finding toys that ignite creativity in my 4 year old daughter. I was familiar with Moon Dough but I was a bit weary of purchasing it. Other parents have commented on how messy Moon Dough was. Moon Dough must have heard these same complaints because they recently reformulated their dough.
I was excited to finally experience Moon Dough! We were sent the Moon Dough Ocean Pals set. The play set included 3 push and pop tools, 3 character twisty molds and 2 colors of moon dough. Adeline couldn’t wait to try this out. She was intrigued with the airy texture of the moon dough (as was I). It was so soft and pliable yet stuck together so well. The push and pop stamps were so easy to use and created highly detailed sea creatures. The blue and green colors were bright and fun although Adeline couldn’t resist mixing them together which created a blueish gray color. The dough never dries out is hypoallergenic and wheat free.
We set up our play area in the living room which was not the smartest idea. Next time I am going to try the kitchen table. There were a bunch of small pieces that ended up all over the coffee table and rug. Thankfully they were easily vacuumed up without sticking. Adeline really enjoyed creating sea creatures with the moon dough and I liked the fact that it was such an easy way for her to be creative.
Moon Dough comes in a variety of different play sets such as the Moon Dough Barn or a even a Diner but you can also purchase Moon Dough alone so your child can create whatever their hear desires! I would recommend Moon Dough for both boys and girls but be be prepared for some clean up.
