The Infinity Stones played a large role in the interconnectivity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And now, the MCU appears to be toying with the idea of the multiverse for the next phase. But for “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” the titular evil organization that first appeared in the first “Iron Man” reemerges as a real threat. And it is up to the titular hero (Simu Liu) to embrace his destiny and put an end to their ways.
Disney has released a brand-new featurette detailing the history of the Ten Rings within the MCU and how they have long waited to make a film like “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”
“We’re going back to the very beginning of the MCU. We have a keystone event. And that event is Tony Stark becoming Iron Man. And he is forced to build these weapons for an organization. And that organization was the Ten Rings.” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said. As MCU fans will remember, it was the Ten Rings who kidnapped Stark and forced him to make weapons. Of course, we all know what happened after that.
The featurette then turns to Liu who had expressed his excitement about the film when it was first announced, and had tweeted a tounge-and-cheek tweet about wanting to play the title role. Whether or not that was a bit of prophesizing on his part is unknown, but he ended up getting the role.

But for “Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings,” we are going to get more than just a look at how the Ten Rings functions within the MCU, fans will see how the terrorist organization connects to the relationship between Shang-Chi and Wenwu (Tony Leung).
Director Destin Daniel Cretton talks about how his heart was in this project and that it feels in line with everything he believes in. “It is a crazy, wild, giant ride that we are going to go on,” he said.
