Disney+ Docuseries INSIDE PIXAR Gets Inside the Pixar Mind
It doesn’t cease to amaze me how much time and effort is put into producing a Pixar film. For some, it can take up to four years of developing the script and perfecting the animation to get titles released onto the big screen. Sure, it’s a very different time now, with some studios releasing their films on their respective screening platforms. And many of those artists are working from home.
But for those who are interested in seeing what went on behind the scenes at one of the most animation studios on the planet, there’s “Inside Pixar.” Disney has released the first trailer for the upcoming docuseries, which, as its title suggests, takes you inside Pixar studios.
Here is the official synopsis:
“Produced by Pixar Animation Studios, Inside Pixar is directed by Erica Milsom and Tony Kaplan, the series offers insights into the personal and cinematic stories that provide an inside look into the people, artistry, and culture of Pixar Animation Studios.”
Having visited the studio at least once in my life, I can tell you it is everything you can imagine and more. Sure, I didn’t get to see every square inch of the place, but getting to roam the permitted hallways was inspirational and gave insight into what sparks the imagination that gives us these wonderful stories.
Erica Milsom and Tony Kaplan direct the series which consists of four collections with five short stories in each collection, centered around a central theme. The first collection releasing on Friday is “Inspired,” exploring what sparks inspiration and the journey from idea to execution.
It will be interesting to see what this docuseries will cover. Though Pixar Studios has a rich history of being creative and open to the idea of inclusion, it’s not without its faults. Though I suspect we will see something more family-friendly, maybe even something that is signaling they have moved past indiscretions to become a better studio.
The first episode of “Inside Pixar” is set to drop on November 13, 2020. No word yet on when the remaining episodes of the docuseries will premiere.
