It’s funny how a reality show based on baking fails could last as for nearly six years. Maybe even longer if it its following continues to grow. But that is a matter for another time. Because “Nailed It” is back for season 6, and Nicole Byer returns to host the show based on the failures of baking pastries, cakes, and other sweet confections.
I’ll be the first to admit that watching amateurs try to bake their way to a cake seemed sounded like a lot of fun. There’s certainly an underdog story to appreciate as these amateur bakers try to find there way to replicate stunning cakes or create something unique, only to end up looking disappointing. I have had my fair share of baking complications that turned out to be a huge mess despite my attempts to follow the recipe by the book.
And it’s less about laughing at the bakers’ failures than it is seeing them persevere over their failures. Again, I can see how it can be an inspirational watch to see bakers be confident enough to recognize their shortcomings in the art of baking and yet still come out on top. I mean, the winner gets $10,000.
And what kind of a reality series would it be if they don’t have any unique challenges that celebrates holidays or cultures. Based on the the official plot synopsis, “Nailed It” season 6 will be doing that.
The Emmy-nominated series is back again! This season, our bakers take on paranormal pastries, celebrate Black History, and attempt to recreate chocolate masterpieces inspired by our very own Jacques Torres – all for that $10,000 prize. It’s part reality contest, part hot mess, and you can’t look away.
Of course, it wouldn’t be much of a competitive reality series without some very special guest judges. They include the likes of Sam Richardson, Wayne Brady, Reggie Watts, Big Freedia, June Diane Raphael, and Sasheer Zamata.
“Nailed It!” season 6 hits Netflix starting September 15, 2021.
