Another one of my favorite baked goods is BREAD! My favorite flavor is definitely sourdough and in particular Boudin San Francisco sourdough.
On a recent trip to San Francisco my family and I were lucky enough to get our first taste. Housed firmly at Fisherman’s Wharf, Boudin’s flagship location boasts a Bakery & Café, a Boudin museum and a full-service restaurant, the Bistro Boudin. Boudin bakers make bread with a recipe they’ve nurtured since 1849! The tangy Sourdough aromas and the on-site bakery drew my family right into their Café. My daughter and I split a sandwich and Wow! The sourdough bread was oh, soooo, gooood. The bread was fresh, and crispy on the outside with a delicious soft texture inside. My daughter eagerly pointed out the adorable seasonally shaped breads that were on display. Unfortunately, we didn’t take any back with us but I recently learned that that Boudin Bakery has an online shop where you can purchase various breads . You can also become a member of one of their Bread Clubs where you receive a delivery of bread every month or you can order the specialty breads individually.
Boudin Bread generously sent us samples from their bread club. We received the 1 lb. Bunnie shaped breads (2 for 19.95) and 1 lb. Shamrock (2 for 19.95) gift breads along with a dozen of their Miniature Bunnies. The breads are individually wrapped with instructions on how to ensure freshness. The instructions tell you not to microwave the bread. It is best to put it in the oven. Definitely do not microwave the bread! You will be doing yourself a disservice. We tried and my family could taste the difference. Sourdough bread is wonderful for sandwiches, pizza, toast and more. We love the tangy flavor and we froze some of the bread to enjoy at a later date. All the breads are handcrafted by Boudin bakers.
Boudin prices are higher than you would normally pay for bread. But, the seasonal shapes are super cool and I love that I can have a little SF delivered right to my door. Breads are made daily and only shipped out on certain days to ensure freshness. Any of their breads would make wonderful gifts for any occasion. We actually bought some for my husband’s mother and she loved it. You can choose from soup bowls, specialty breads, gift baskets as well as Boudin merchandise available on their site.
So. Cal residents! make sure to visit The Bakery Tour at California Adventure for samples and to purchase Mickey Mouse sourdough baked bread! Sweet!

That Bunny Bread is so cute!
I am a huge fan of bread too. I wish it wasn’t so full of carbs or I would eat more of it. I have seen the Boudin San Francisco Sourdough, but I have not tried it.

Oh wow that looks so good. I love sour dough
Thanks for letting me know! The SF one is only 20 minutes away and our local mall has a Boudin restaurant so my family periodically loads up on our fill of sourdough. BUT, now I can tell friends who have moved away about the club so they can get a taste of home. Thank you!
I wish there was a Boudin near us! Lucky!
Mmm… I shouldn’t have read this post before having breakfast. Now I’m hungry and craving soughdough bread. I wonder why? Ha ha.
THe bread sounds yummy. I LOVE that it comes in different shapes. That is pretty cool! I also like that they are individually wrapped.
Thanks for the review. I wish I lived in CA so I could try them out.
