Walking around the show floor and panels of Anime Expo and San Diego Comic-Con can really take a toll on your energy and hunger level. So I make sure to pack my bag/backpack with some granola bars, water or coconut water. Besides packing some granola bars, my other travel snack mainstay is HI-CHEW candies.
These candies are such a life saver when you need something sweet, along with that sugar boost. I love the fruity flavors and soft chewy texture. HI-CHEW candies were the perfect candy pieces to have while exploring the Anime Expo show floor and when I was lending a hand at a friend’s booth at San Diego Comic-Con this month. The bag was empty within a couple of hours.
From sparkling sake, to ramen, consumers are infatuated with the latest trends and Japanese food trends seem to be booming right now. HI-CHEW is quickly becoming part of one of the trends releasing new flavors all around the world. I remember when I used to only see these candies being sold in Japanese markets and now I see them being sold in 7-Eleven and Walmart.
National Melon Month – July is National Melon month and the Melon flavor would be perfect to celebrate the wonderful fruit this month. This is one of my favorite flavors, along with Banana.
National Sour Candy Day – It may have been on July 18th, but HI-CHEW Sours are the perfect sour candy to have all year long. Sour flavors include Lemon, Lime and Grapefruit. These HI-CHEW Sours are not super sour, just sour enough to make your mouth pucker.
HI-CHEW come in 7 different flavors: Strawberry, Green Apple, Grape, Mango, Cherry, Melon and Banana. For some reason I could swear that there was a Peach flavor too. It could have been a limited test flavor or one that was only from Japan.
They come in various bag mixes: 7 and 14 oz. variety bags; 3.53 oz. Original, Tropical, Cherry-Berry, Sour Citrus Mix bags; and 10 pc. Sticks.

Join Team Hi-Chew for some free swag and win cool stuff monthly. I remember winning a free Hi-Chew t-shirt, when I went to their booth at Anime Expo a few years ago, and received it in the mail.
