Disney Channel’s Teen Beach Movie plays homage to classic movies/musicals from the 60s: A mashup of West Side Story and a beach movie starring Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello (pick one of the four movies they were in). Teen Beach Movie has a simple romantic arch, breakouts of entertaining songs, and with elaborate dance scenes that became an instant hit. Well, they’re back! Brady (Ross Lynch) and Mack (Maia Mitchell) are starring again in the sequel Teen Beach 2, which premieres on Disney Channel Friday, June 26th.
<insert humble brag moment> Part of the Disney Inside Out event was a day with Disney Channel and Teen Beach 2 where all of the Mom bloggers screened the film. and (I admit it, I loved it!) All I will say for now is that TB2 is even better than the first one! <insert next humble brag here>Not only did we screen the film, we were treated to a Q&A PLUS a dance lesson with “Chee Chee” (Chrissie Fit) and “SeaCat” (Jordan Fisher), from the movie!! Squee (that was from my teenage me)!
First off, I am uncoordinated. And I haven’t danced in like 20 years so (when I was a teen)… I was a wee-bit concerned when I my eyes discovered the dance lesson on my itinerary. Thankfully, the young-stars were calm, cool and collected and I knew we were in good hands. (Yes, I marched to the beat and did my thing during the lesson.)
All of the moms broke up into rows, and our instructors belted out instructions as we attempted to master the moves from the song, “Gotta Be Me” (from TB2). I collided with a couple of bloggers and lost my footing, but ultimately I smiled throughout the entire session and I even broke a sweat!!! These movies are all about having fun, and we had plenty of that.
I shared my new steps with my unimpressed daughter who shared her disappointment with me. “Mom! So not fair that you got to see Teen Beach 2!!!” Patience my little one… To make it up to her, we sat down tougher together and watched Teen Beach Movie to get ready for June 26th.
Here’s a sneak peak of the song I danced to. Warning, the song is catchy… MARCH TO THE BEAT, GOTTA DO MY THING!
* I participated in an all-expense trip hosted by Disney, Disney Channel and Disney XD. My opinions are my own.

So fun! I can’t wait to see it!
I still can’t get over how talented these two are! I was beyond impressed and can’t imagine doing those moves in sand! I can barely do them on solid ground! But this was so much fun!
