It’s Halloween time! Why are we talking Christmas? Because that’s exactly what the Locke family did when they feared their young son, Dax, wouldn’t survive his cancer to see Christmas. They gave him Christmas in October. The Heart of Christmas is the true story of this family, the St. Jude’s hospital where Dax was treated and the community that brought the holidays to this family early one year. Learn more about the movie previously reviewed on That’s IT Mommy.
GIVEAWAY: One (1) That’s IT Mommy reader will receive a “The Heart of Christmas” DVD. Giveaway ends 11/2 midnight EST. This giveaway is open to US residents only. Thanks!

the illness of my brother,we all joined together one last time with him before he passed away,he was so happy to see everyone,,its bittersweet now ,this will be our first Christmas without him
We just always come together for the Holidays, I think its the good food.!
We also just come together at the holidays. Fortunately we have never had a tragedy around the holidays.
Unfortunately it was a car accident(i was in the hospital for about a week and a half) that brought us all together but in a way it turned out to be really great because I hadn’t seen my family in a long time!
When my little cousin was battling cancer, the whole community came together to give him & his family a wonderful holiday, in a very difficult and sad time for our family, it was also heart warming and amazing to see everyone come together.
And my family really came together the year my grandpa passed, it was days before Thanksgiving, we were told he wouldn’t make it through the night but he held on for 2 days until my dad made it home (he was out of town and having a hard time getting home with the holiday travel). Our entire family was there (all issues and rifts put aside) for my grandpa at the end, one by one we had our time alone with him letting him know it was okay to go, then everyone surrounded his bed and held hands in prayer.
I don’t have such an event.
We haven’t (thankfully) had any tragedies around the holidays that have brought our family together. We did lose our youngest daughter over Easter weekend almost 4 years ago but we are already a close knit family so they were already there for me.
