We had the best family night under the stars with Eat See Hear. Summer is not complete without taking in an outdoor movie and we were thrilled to attend the Eat See Hear showing of Princess Bride. Eat See Hear hosts movies every Saturday from early May to mid September in various locations. Their 3.5 stories tall by 52 feet wide screen ensures that every spot in the house is a good one. Music and food trucks make the event even cooler for families, friends and couples!
I realize that the Princess Bride is an extremely popular film but I think I’ve only seen it once! My husband has seen it a million times but this was a first for my daughter. We rolled out our blankets, ordered food from Let’s Roll It truck (one of the many food trucks on site) and just kicked back and relaxed! To top off the Princess Bride experience, Westley (Cary Elwes) was in attendance and spoke to the enthusiastic crowd. He even gave us some PB trivia! Here are three for you:
1) Did you know that the R.O.U.S were played by little people inside rat suits? Guess technology has come a long way!
2) Wallace Shawn was told by his agent that he was not the first choice to play Vizzini? In fact, the film makers wanted Danny Devito or Richard Dreyfuss. Wallace Shawn is Vizzini!
3) Andre the Giant was literally a giant foodie. He co-owned a French restaurant in Montreal and he was very particular about what he ate. Remember his Wrestlemania singlet?
You’ll definitely want to purchase your tickets in advance on-line. Many of their showings sell out so don’t show up at the door expecting tickets because there just might not be any! Also, for those who want a front and center view or are are always late look into the Fashionably Late passes. We sat in this designated area that makes you kinda feel VIP. 😉 Also, bring a blanket or low beach chair. Please abide by the low beach chair rule. Don’t be rude, people want to watch the movie not your head. TIP: bring a small tarp to place under the blanket. Our blanket was soaked from the condensation on the grass.
Doors open at 5:30, live music starts at 7:00 and movie starts soon after Sundown. Want to bring your dog? Eat See Hear is dog friendly. So if Fido is a good boy, bring him along!
There are three movies left in their summer line up! Highlights include Django Unchained on August 30 at the Autry (you will probably want to leave the kiddies home for this one). Dirty Dancing at Will Rogers Park on Sept 6 (I love and miss Patrick Swayze!) and The Goonies will end the 3rd season for Eat See Hear in Pasadena!
