Diego and Friends Save Animals Around the World in a 6-Episode Compilation DVD is to be released on April 12th for the suggested retail price of $16.99.
Both my son and daughter like watching Diego. The opening song gets us all up and dancing.
“Deep inside the jungle where nature’s running wild, coming to the rescue is a very special child, talking to the animals and swinging from a vine, this rough and tough adventurer is working all the time, there goes DIEGO, DIEGO, DIEGO, GO DIEGO GO!”
Similar to Dora, there is a lot of repetition in the dialogue which seems to appeal to small children. There are also several times per episode that the characters ask viewers to participate. In one show, Diego is riding atop a turtle and a shark is chasing him so he asks the viewers to stretch out their hands and make a fast swimming motion. My two year old eagerly helped Diego by doing the swimming motions from his high chair. As a mom, I like that Diego is introducing my kids to the names of different animals and their habitats in each episode. I’ve even overheard my four year old making up games in her room incorporating humpback whales and Bengal tigers.
