In Downton Abbey: A New Era, the Crawley family goes on a journey to Southern France after Violet Crawley mysteriously inherits a villa from the recently departed Marquis de Montmirail. Who is he? Why did he leave her his villa? Why didn’t Marquis de Montmirail leave it to his wife? Did the countess have an affair?
I was late to the Downton Abbey craze but once I dove in, the series quickly turned into one of my favorite bingeable shows. I adore Maggie Smith’s character, Violet Crawley. She plays the quick-witted Countess of Grantham and has the most memorable dialogue which made it easy to watch for hours on end especially when she squared off with her cousin Isobel!
Naturally, I was thrilled to hear about the much anticipated Downton Abbey: A New Era! The movie delivered the goods and is everything I love about Downton Abbey. The cast has evolved, the storyline is fun and we learn more about Violet Crawley. There are so many fabulous endings!
Now, Julian Fellowes‘ Downton Abbey: A New Era is available for home release and it is packed with behind-the-scenes extras. “A Legendary Character” is a must for Maggie Smith fans. She truly was born to be the Countess of Grantham!
