Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! This year my little guy gets to pass out valentines at school! Gavin is in nursery (preschool) and he is only 3 ½ years old. Although he enjoys pointing out the heart shapes, I don’t think he is too interested in passing out valentines. So, it is up to this Mommy to put together the valentines this year! I just might be more excited about crafting a valentine for his classmates than he is!
Have you discovered Pinterest yet? I stalk this website ALL THE TIME. It is filled with AH-Mazing ideas where you can “pin” onto personal boards – like a virtual notebook! I love it! A month or so ago I came across a cute DIY valentine by Zakka Life perfect for my little guy to give away!
These Superhero Valentines have a generic saying on the cape that says, “Have a SUPER Valentine’s Day!” Gavin doesn’t really understand the “Be Mine”, “XOXOXO”, or “Be My Valentine” sayings that are on valentines. I also feel more comfortable with him having more of a generic greeting for his valentines!
This DIY valentine is easy, quick, and you probably have most of these supplies on hand already!
SUPPLIES
- Printed template
- Cardstock
- Scissors
- Hole punch
- Tape
- Lollipops
Head on over to http://zakkalife.blogspot.com/2011/02/its-bird-its-plane-its-super-valentine.html/ to get the template! While you are there, check out all her other clever ideas!
The steps are easy:
1. Print the template out onto cardstock.
2. Cut the eye masks and capes.
3. Tape the mask onto the lollipop.
4. Hole punch the cape and feed it through the lollipop stick. The wrapping should hold the cape up without tape.
Inexpensive, quick, cute, and perfect for a little boy to give out! Gavin doesn’t care about candy, but he definitely enjoyed playing with this valentine!
