Marvel Studios has revealed the newest trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Its a highly anticipated sequel that sees two fan-favorite Marvel Superheroes from the 20th Century universe team up for an all new-meta action comedy.
As if Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) breaking the timeline for giggles in his self-titled meta action comedy sequel wasn’t bad enough, the Merc with the Mouth looks to break the multiverse. Although he has some very good reasons this time as he looks to save his world from an impending doom. Unfortunately, he doesn’t know how to do that. So he’ll have to recruit the only one who does, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). There’s only one problem, Wolverine doesn’t want to have anything to do with saving worlds.
Before the trailer was released, Jackman and Reynolds took to social media to tease what we can expect to see from the sequel. Par for the course for any Deadpool movie, we hear Deadpool make a lot of references to Logan’s retirement – or for cinematic universe purposes his fate. “”Eventually, you’re going to hang up the claws and it’s going to make a lot of people very sad. But one day, your old pal Wade’s gonna ask you to get back in the saddle again. And when he does, say ‘yes.'”

Meanwhile, Reynolds took to X to post a new look at the sequel’s poster, which sees Deadpool’s finger wistfully touching one of Wolverine’s claws.
As for the trailer itself, we get the usual epic action sequences paired with slow-motion fights and explosions. Of course, since this is a Deadpool movie, there are also lots of blood being spilt, choice words, and some drug references. And since this is a multiverse movie, we can expect to see some nods to the MCU. Like a hollow Giant Man that doubles as a base located in a wasteland. This wasteland could be the same one where he once glorious 20th Century Fox monument stood, but now lays decayed. Then there’s the fact that we see Deadpool and Wolverine jump into what looks like one of Dr. Strange’s portals.
This wouldn’t be the first time that the X-Men have appeared in a MCU film since Charles Xavier cameoed in “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.” No word yet on if Patrick Stewart will reprise the role again.
Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, and Lewis Tan reprise their respective roles. They’ll all be joined by Emma Corrin, who is rumored to play Cassandra Nova.
Directed by Shawn Levy, who uses a screenplay he co-wrote with Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells, “Deadpool & Wolverine” open in theaters on July 24, 2024.
