Once Upon A Time creators, Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis took to the D23 stage with Colin O’Donoghue who plays the adorable Captain Killian Hook. Details were revealed for Once Upon A Time Season 7! The panel was led by D23’s Jeffrey Epstein who managed to get more than a few “maybes” out of the guests. Get this Oncers- Henry is married!
Horowitz and Kitsis started off by saying that there is a change up and that we are saying goodbye to characters as well as meeting new characters. Their long term plan was to close a chapter and start a new one while most importantly giving these characters happy endings.
This season the story takes place in modern day Seattle with flash backs to the Enchanted Forest. However, may see Storybrooke a few times throughout. Henry is older and he’s moved on to find a new adventure. Is Henry still the author? Eddy Kitsis shared, “He wants to find his own story.” Hmmm, that’s mysterious! So there is a new book, new universe and Henry is married to Cinderella? Why not? His Grandfather is Prince Charming! A photo was revealed at D23, and in this story, Cinderella is played by Dania Ramirez.
What about Captain Hook? Where do we find him in the premiere of the season? You won’t watch to miss the second episode as it heavily focuses on his character (sounds like we’ll get a back-story). During the panel, we learned that Hook actor Colin O’Donoghue has never been to any Disney theme park (Ok, he lives in Ireland so I’ll give him a pass but hopefully, he made it across the street to at least ride on Pirates of the Caribbean!). His favorite Disney character is Aladdin and he said that his favorite princess is Cinderella (I’m guessing, that he doesn’t really have a favorite princess). Colin actually planned to go to art college for animation. He was a quiet teenager who liked to draw and play music. Thankfully he decided to pursue acting instead.
Horowitz, Kitsis, and O’Donoghue reminisced about OUAT season 6 musical episode including the planning that was involved. The script was built earlier than usual because of the songs. Each song was designed specifically for each actor. O’Donoghue was in a band for 10 years, “Music was a big part of my life.” but the actor never sang. After the panel, O’Donoghue was persuaded to sing “Revenge Is Going To Be Mine.” What a treat! Hook’s scene was one of the best from that episode. On screen, he made jumping from table to table in Pirate garb and eyeliner look so easy! But, O’Donoghue actually broke his foot during his number. Ouch!
It was announced earlier this year that many of the original Once Upon A Time cast will not be returning including Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas. Jennifer is set to make an appearance but I’m dying to find out what happened to the Savior who, by the way, has the best collection of leather jackets and boots. Will you tune into Once Upon A Time this Fall?
