Cirque Éloize “Hotel” brings visitors seeking adventure and excitement together at The Soraya at California State University, Northridge this weekend, Jan. 25 and 26, for a pair of shows inspired by the world’s greatest hotels.
Cirque Éloize’s new creation is a grand universe of sights and sounds to discover. This family-friendly spectacle brings a golden era of entertainment to life with acrobats, jugglers and musicians. Cirque Éloize “Hotel” is billed as a stopover where lives intersect long enough for tales and memories to be forged.
Through acrobatics, drama, dance and music, the production guides the audience through an intimate refuge. The stories take the audience from the 1920s to the future in 2040 and glimpses of scenes from the 1970s.
Director Emmanuel Guillaume brings a sensitive, poetic and comedic approach to the production.
Musical Director Eloi Painchaud, who guided “Saloon,” “Louis Cyr” and “La guerre des tuques 3D,” leads the audience in the tales of Hotel. Sabrina Halde, cofounder of the Groenland group, performs the show’s compositions.
”Hotel” is receiving warm reviews from across the continent. The Morning Call said, “A well-deserved standing ovation. … Cirque Éloize provides an amazing night at the ‘Hotel.’ ” The Journal de Montreal said, “A perfect evening for which the magic, the performance and the emotion all got married for the better.” La Presse said, “The figures were perfectly executed, the technics mastered, the choreographies meticulously memorized, there’s nothing else to say, these circus artists are keen, agile and sometimes even audacious!”
Jeannot Painchaud, President and Creative Director of Cirque Éloize said, “During the last 25years, the entire world has been our place of creation, of experience and emotion and hotels where we stayed were our second home. This is what inspired us for creating our new show, ‘Hotel,’ 25 years after the creation of Cirque Éloize.”
The “Hotel” show on Saturday starts at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Soraya is at 18111 Nordhoff Street, Northridge, CA 91330, on the CSUN campus.
Cirque Éloize “Hotel” is part of The Soraya’s Family Fun series and is the 15th show by the acclaimed Canadian troupe. Cirque Éloize is celebrating its 25th anniversary and continues entertaining audiences as it did with “Saloon” at The Soraya last year.
