Disney’s Cinderella: Diamond Edition is now available on Blu-ray Combo Pack, Digital and On-Demand viewing.
My thoughts: I’ve been looking forward to the release of Cinderella: Diamond Edition for sometime now. Can you believe that I’ve never seen Cinderella in it’s entirety! Well, I was thrilled to finally see the Disney classic and to share this first with my young daughter.
Cinderella is a fairy tale about a young woman who is mistreated by her mean step-mother and jealous step-sisters. (BTW, I never understood how the fathers in Disney films managed to re-marry to such awful women!!) With the support of Cinderella’s loyal animal companions she is able to keep a positive outlook on her bleak situation. Her life changes when an invitation arrives from the palace requesting that all eligible maidens attend the ball in the prince’s honor. An unsupportive family, excessive housework, inappropriate ball attire are a few obstacles for Cinderella to overcome BUT her sweet fairy god mother safely gets her to the ball. Cinderella’s magical transition was definitely my favorite part of the movie. This is a scene that I have seen in the past and includes the popular song, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo. My daughter and I were truly excited for Cinderelly! Love at first site happens for the Prince and Cinderella and the rest is history.
I’d love to to eventually see the original. I’m really interested to see restored films original artistry. This film is simplistic but elegant. Cinderella is beautiful and her confidants are fabulous. The scenes between the mice duos, Gus and Otavis and Lucifer the cat and Bruno the dog are memorable! I loved watching the two tiny mice drag a key up numerous flights of stairs.
Cinderella runs at an hour and is rated G. This is the perfect Disney film for your family. Nothing scary for the young one! Just pure Disney magic!

About Cinderella: Everyone orders Cinderella around: her cruel stepmother, her awful stepsisters — even the big clock in the church tower tells her when to start another day of drudgery. But they can’t stop her from dreaming, and Cinderella has faith that someday her wishes will come true. When an invitation to the royal ball arrives, Cinderella is sure her time has come — until her stepsisters, with the encouragement of Lady Tremaine, tear her gown to shreds. Just when Cinderella believes all is lost, her Fairy Godmother appears, and with a wave of her wand and “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,” transforms an ordinary pumpkin into a magnificent coach and Cinderella’s rags into a gorgeous gown, then sends her off to the Royal Ball. But Cinderella’s enchanted evening must end when the spell is broken at midnight. It will take the help of her daring animal mice friends and a perfect fit into a glass slipper to create the ultimate fairy tale ending.
