Disney may have first started out as a small and humble animation studio. But now they are one of the biggest entertainment giants in the world. That doesn’t mean they stop making the very films that got them to where they are now. During the Disney Investor Day presentations, the studio announced a number of new animated series that will be heading directly to Disney+. And a lot of these titles will have characters that you may recognize.
“Baymax!” is a brand new animated series from “Big Hero Six” director Don Hall. The film is a continuation of sorts that will explore more of the futuristic city of San Fransokyo. But instead of taking on supervillains, Baymax! will focus on the titular character’s original protocols as a nurse robot. The huggable robot will have a brand new mode of transportation which will help him give the city the care it needs.
Next, “Zootopia+” marks a return to the famous city. Trent Corey and Josie Trinidad will oversee the project which takes a look at the daily life of the animals of the animalistic metropolis. The Real Housewives of Little Rodentia” and “So You Think You Can Prance” are just some of the hilarious takes on the real-life popular reality shows of today. And we can’t forget about all the action – or lack thereof – that goes on at the DMV, where we will meet Flash and the rest of the sloths once again. “Zootopia+” is scheduled to make its debut in 2022.
“Moana” is another Disney title that is getting the sequel series treatment on Disney+. In it, the title character embarks on a quest that takes her across the oceans in hopes of discovering her identity, all the while encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds. The series will also be a long-form musical comedy. Outside of that, we don’t know much else about it. Expect to see “Moana” on Disney+ sometime in 2023.
Disney also announced Tiana, which will focus on the character from the “Princess and the Frog” film. Like “Moana,” “Tiana” will be a musical comedy series. This one should be interesting to see as much of the story was resolved by the end of the film. But if there is cooking involved, then I am in. “Tiana” is expected to drop on Disney+ in 2022.

But before we close the Disney animation titles that will appear exclusively on Disney+, we absolutely have to talk about the “Chip N’ Dale Rescue Rangers” movie that is coming to us from Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping director Akiva Shaffer. The film which will be a live-action and CGI animation hybrid will feature the voices of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse co-star John Mulaney and Brooklyn Nine-Nine lead Andy Samberg as the respective titular characters.
Chip and Dale are back in a hybrid live-action-animated feature directed by Akiva Schaffer and starring John Mulaney N’ Andy Samberg.

Chip and Dale are my favorite Disney characters of all time, and it seems perfect to have Mulaney and Samberg voice the two. The two chipmunks were so popular back in the day, that they eventually got their own detective animated show “Chip N’ Dale Rescue Rangers” in the early 1990s as a part of the Disney afternoon lineup. I remember watching that very fondly after school and having it taped on VHS. Expect to see this sometime in 2022.
