One of our favorite family holiday traditions is a visit to Universal Studios in Hollywood! Now through Dec. 29, visitors can celebrate holiday warmth and cheer during Ghrinchmas, and the transformed winter wonderland in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Here is a list of must-sees during the holiday season.
Tip! Who wants to spend all their time in lines?? I highly recommend a Fast Pass to minimize wait times. The pass gave us a VIP feeling while we marched past the turn stalls and onto rides within minutes!! Stress-free and it keeps your kids smiling.
Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will feature seasonally themed holiday decor, and The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle at night. Grab a hot butterbeer, do some holiday shopping and ride your favorite Harry Potter rides.
The legendary school of witchcraft and wizardry will be illuminated with colorful images and spectacular lights that bring the castle to magical life every night. Shows are scheduled every half hour beginning at 6. This is also the best time to ride the Harry Potter ride! Lines will be the shortest!
Enjoy holiday songs by the A Capella Frog Choir, made up of students from Hogwarts and giant throaty frogs.
Grinchmas is here and visitors can experience a beautiful new state of the art, 55-foot twisty, turvy tree decorated with thousands of choreographed multicolored lights! Make time for tree lighting which starts at 5:30 and happens every 30 minutes. Interact with residents of Whoville, and grab some photos while you are waiting for the lighting to begin.
Take a picture with the Grinch himself! He’s popular, so expect a long wait. I recommend a visit early on as wait times can be over an hour. Make sure to meet Grinch’s side kick Max as well.
Try all the fun holiday desserts- we usually buy a donut to share, this holiday season. This season’s IT donut is one shaped like the Grinch.
Make sure to check all the new Jurassic Park the ride. Purchase or bring your own poncho to stay dry. And as always rest your feet and get in a litte Univerdal Studio history on the Studio Tours attraction. Tip: sit in one of the first trams to get a good view of Jaws, sit in the last tram to race away from Norman Bates!
