Hosted by Maggiano’s Italian Restaurant
The simple act of enjoying a weekend brunch can help kids and families in need, thanks to Maggiano’s Italian Restaurant.
For 14 years, the small-chain restaurant has raised more than $7 million and helped grant more than 900 wishes through their partnership with Make-A-Wish, a nonprofit organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Their annual “Eat-A-Dish-For-Make-A-Wish” campaign has become a tradition at its 52 nationwide locations. Visit one of their SoCal locations – Los Angeles (The Grove), Woodland Hills (Westfield Promenade) and Costa Mesa (South Coast Plaza) – from now until August 2, and $1 will be donated to Make-A-Wish for every brunch entrée ordered. For every glass of Wish Lemonade ordered, 50 cents will also be donated.
What a delicious way to support a worthy cause! The only downside is you have to choose an entrée from the tempting offers on the brunch menu; at the Grove location, Chef Alberto Bini has curated a selection of dishes that bend the ordinary ho-hum brunch into extraordinary.
Remember the old joke that you should always eat dessert first? That thought comes to mind as the traditional brunch starter at Maggiano’s is a moist cupcake-size Orange Streusel Cake that sets the stage for the yumminess ahead.
You can’t go wrong with one of the savory Benedicts. With roasted tomato and a robust hollandaise sauce, the Meatball Benedict is hearty and satisfying while the Crab Cake Benedict, moist and flakey. Both are generous in size and come with potato wedge accompaniment.
For lighter options, consider the fluffy Lemon Ricotta Pancakes or the Crème Brûlée French Toast. Both come with strawberry or blueberries as well as thick and luscious homemade whipped cream. A side of Nueske thick-sliced bacon to adds a little salt to the sweetness.
Equally impressive is the Vegetable Frittata that combines just the right amount of spinach, mushrooms with cheese for a fulfilling veggie option.
If you can’t make it to Maggiano’s before the Aug. 2 campaign ends for 2017, don’t fret. You can still help out Make-A-Wish year-round. For every featured dessert ordered, $1 will be donated. For every $10 and above direct donations, guests will receive a Start Card with a special offer for their next Maggiano’s visit. You can also go online and donate at wish.org/maggianos.
