Tech Tuesday Goes Green: iPhone True Bamboo Case by Boxwave ($50 GC Giveaway)

My iPhone has a new home. The True Bamboo Case by Boxwave was the answer I’d been searching for. Now, if I were one to complain, I would list out all the things I detested about my previous iPhone case (Okay, well I’ll just mention the biggest one—Even though I purchased the appropriate case for my phone, the rubber material soon stretched out—at the hands of my 3.5 year old—and no longer ‘fit’ the phone). The True Bamboo Case fits my iPhone like a glove, and I have no fear of it covering the camera lens or coming off of my phone while in my purse. It also feels smooth and sleek in my hand, mimicking the feel of the iPhone outside of it’s case.

It’s sturdy, too. My 1 year old has enjoyed grabbing it off the couch and running away with it. And, yes, he’s dropped it more than once on our wood floors and the case (and my phone) are still intact. My husband is even jealous of my stylish new case (good thing Father’s Day is right around the corner!). It’s also made from eco-friendly bamboo. Bamboo is known to have incredible strength and grows very quickly–up to 4 feet in 24 hours! This is important because it can be continually reharvested within a relatively small time frame (about 3 years as compared to 30-50 years for other commercially used trees according to calibamboo.com), and harvesting it does not damage the surrounding environment. Since my 3.5 year old uses my phone for some of her games, she’s actually asked me about the case. At this age, I can’t get into deep discussions on our environment, but can introduce simple concepts like “It’s made from a plant that grows REALLY fast”! It also feels good for me to use a product that is globally accepted as helping our planet.

Fits together in two interlocking pieces

It’s designed with two interlocking pieces for easy installation. The front is completely open for access to the touch screen and it has all appropriate cut-outs for access points. Since it’s made from a natural product, each case will vary slightly in it’s finish. It retails for $49.95 and can be purchased directly on their site or on Amazon.
