Disney’s Live action remake of Beauty and the Beast is everything I dreamed it would be! Disney has succeeded in breathing new life into this classic story that leaves you yearning for more with new twists, surprises and fascinating backstories!
Diversity works in films and is a reflection of who we are as a people. I applaud Disney for their inclusion of a gay character as well as interracial couples in this film. In this time of uncertainty, Beauty and the Beast is a symbol of acceptance but also shows how evil is born out of out power, greed and fear. The messages in this film are absolutely relevant to what our society is struggling with in this present day.
Would I recommend taking your children to see this? Absolutely! My husband and I are raising our daughter to be inclusive and an honest friend and to not “judge a book by it’s cover”. This is the basis of the Beauty and the Beast.
I enjoyed the entire cast but Luke Evans (Gaston) and Josh Gad (LaFue) are an instant classic comedy duo that stole the show with their singing and acting. Evans portrayal of the vain, sexist soldier Gaston, was absolute perfection while Gad was on point as Gaston’s side kick and admirer LaFou. I suggest a Beauty and the Beast sequel with these two guys!
The hard work and effort are evident in every scene in this film. It’s refreshingly stunning! Beauty and the Beast is unquestionably a film that everyone should see. It will surprise them and they will fall in love with this almost flawless adaptation. I see Beauty and the Beast as an definite award-winner!
