Do you remember Playskool’s Alphie back in the 80s? He was the educational robot who taught colors, memorization and counting to preschoolers? Well, he’s back and better than ever!
“Press my head button so we can begin learning together.” The new Alphie has a new sleek look and he has a cheerful voice and happy grin. The 80s Alphie face lit up but the new face has an LCD screen for his eyes. Alphie’s eyes are expressive and the LCD screen displays images like fireworks and stars when you make the correct choice. His mouth also lights up when he speaks.
Alphie requires 3 AA batteries that happily, are included. Alphie comes with 30 double-sided subject cards. Preschoolers can learn matching skills, shapes, sounds, numbers and more. Slide in the card and kids can start learning with Alphie.
Alphie’s personality and cadence is encouraging and easy to understand. Some talking toys are not very clear. Teagan enjoys engaging and learning with this rockin’ robot!
Alphie comes with a handle for easy transportation. So far, he’s come with us on many car rides. There are tons of matching and skill based games and when you answer correctly, Alphie rewards you with exciting kudos! He also sings! Alphie’s version of the ABC song is a little different from the original melody. Although, I like that the card shows the alphabet and all the letters flash on his LCD face.
I love Alphie’s updated look. It’s fun when companies bring back and revamp old toys. I also like that Alphie shuts down on his own and states that he needs a “reboot” after he hasn’t been played with for a while.
September means back to school! This would be a fun toy for your new preschoolers to play and learn with. Alphie is available now! I saw him at Target and he’s priced $39.99. Booster packs are also available if you would like to expand on the cards that come with Alphie. Visit here to purchase or find our more about Alphie.
“Alphie loves learning with you!”

I have a fluerville diaper bag and love it! I love that they are PVC Free-which I actually didn’t know before going to the website! Awesome
We love the new updated version too.
He is about the most popular educational toy there is and definitely seems to be more popular than the leapfrog range at the moment.
