I’m originally from Boston and Bostonians love their sport teams. My favorite sport growing up in Beantown was hockey and it still is. The fast pace of the game is thrilling and the periods seem to move quickly unlike some other sports. Now that I live in SoCal, I’m cheering on different teams (I’ll always be a Boston girl at heart) with my own family. We were excited when the Anaheim Ducks invited us to the Honda Center on Star Wars Night to watch them play. Hockey + Star Wars= Score!
We arrived early to participate in the pre-game fun at the Hockey Spot (takes place by the South Entrance in the parking lot). Kids can play street-hockey, table hockey and jump around in a bouncy house for free. It’s a good way to get out some energy before the game stars. The Hockey Spot is open from 11am-1pm before every home game on Sundays.
From there, we headed to the arena to take pictures with people dressed as their favorite Star Wars character. The Honda Center hosted Star Wars festivities that took place during the pre-game ceremonies and during the intermissions. It’s cool when you turn around to find an Imperial soldier sitting behind you!
My daughter was really interested in the game and it was a nice bonding moment for her and my husband. He was always in skates when he was a kid in Boston. It was nice for him to share this excitement with our daughter. And we had really cool neighbors sitting in front of us. We loved hi-fiving everyone when the Ducks won! By the way, the beat the Ottawa Senators 5-1.
Looking for a cool gift idea for your hockey fan? The NHL Anaheim Ducks are offering a Holiday Pack which includes tickets to Duck Games, a Ducks Ugly Sweater and more. Check out the link here https://www.nhl.com/ducks/tickets/holiday-pack-special for more info. I highly recommend taking your kids to a game. It was a fun day for us!
Parking costs $20 and food is available at the venue. Kid’s meals are an option. Raffles are offered at the game and there are also fan experiences such as riding the Zamboni. What kid wouldn’t want to do that? Heck, I want to ride it!
