The Chipmunks are back in Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip! Once again, Alvin, Theodore and Simon, get into a nutty predicament. This time they are convinced that Dave will leave them behind as he supports a new musical artist (Bella Thorne) and plans a proposal to his new girlfriend in Miami! That’s the not the worse of it, Dave’s girlfriend has a teenage son (Miles played by Josh Green) who is left in charge of the Chipmunks! GULP. He hasn’t been too kind to the Chipmunks and they are in mutual agreement about not wanting to become brothers. The chipmunk trio along with Miles come up with a plan to hit the road and stop the proposal. That’s when everything goes wrong in a funny, wacky way!
Family is the root of Alvin and the Chipmunks series and we always see the chipmunks cross Dave in some way but reunite with him at the end while learning morals along the way. Jason Lee, who has perfected the “AALLVIINN” scream is back as Dave! I’m a fan of Jason and we were lucky to meet him years ago at another Chipmunks premier party. As always, Dave goes out of his way to support his chipmunk kids and there is a sweet surprise at the end of the film. I actually teared up! The only scene that was questionable for me, is when the Chipmunks trick their neighbor-sitter (Jennifer Coolidge who is fabulous) into thinking that they haven’t left town. They kidnap squirrels and soak nuts in cough syrup to make them sleepy…Kids, we don’t want to soak anything in cough syrup! But the squirrels get revenge, or maybe they’re just doing what squirrels would do — by destroying Dave’s home!!!
My family attended the premiere at Fox Studios where we partied with the chipmunks! First, we hit the red carpet with Justin Long (voices Alvin), Tony Hale (he plays an TSA Agent who we learn is obsessed with the Chipmunks + he’s one of the highlights of the film!) Bella Thorne and Redfoo (LMFAO) who also has an appearances in the film! This film is charming (who doesn’t love chipmunk voices and Theodore is plain
adorable) and the animation is cool plus the soundtrack has fabulous songs.
The Chipettes also make an appearance but are busy hosting American Idol! They are voiced by Anna Faris, Kaley Cuoco and Christina Applegate.
After the red carpet, we took more photos with the Chipmunks, ate yummy food from food trucks. The desserts were heavenly – cake pops, mini cupcakes and cookies! Yes and thank you!
The film is rated PG and is in theaters Dec. 18th.
We were invited to attend the premiere by Fox Studios. Opinions are our own.
