Lucasfilm has released the first trailer for “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” a fun and exciting, original, live-action series starring Jude Law as a mysterious character (“Jod”) whose true motives are shrouded in mystery. And if you’ve wondered what it would be like to see a Star Wars series with Amblin vibes, then this is the show you’ve been waiting for.
Created by Jon Watts (directed of Marvel Studios’s Spider-Man trilogy), the series is inspired by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin films where kids with absent parents go off on a far off adventure or a journey of self-discovery. In this case, group of misfits made up of Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), KB (Kyriana Kratter), and Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) find themselves getting lost in space.
These kids will discover how dangerous the galaxy is when they have a run-in with some nasty pirates. Luckily, Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law) is there to help bring them home.
Of course, getting home sounds easier than it actually is, and the kids will discover the dangers they are in but also find out more about themselves. Fittingly set against a German cover of Peter Schilling’s Major Tom (Coming Home), Watts’s forthcoming Star Wars series glows with so much nostalgia and Star Wars love, it’s going to be exciting to see this new corner of a galaxy far far away.
Episodes are directed by Jon Watts, David Lowery, the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard and Lee Isaac Chung, Jon Watts and Christopher Ford are the head writers and also serve as executive producers along with Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Chris Buongiorno, Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck are the co-executive producers, and Susan McNamara and John Bartnicki are the producers.
“Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” launches on December 3 with the first two episodes, exclusively on Disney+.
