Thanksgiving is going to look different for many families this year. With many people deciding to stay home, it’s time to create new traditions. Over at our household, we are breaking out the good china and crystal. We got a little turkey carved out of a block of butter from the Supermarket dairy aisle that my kids are excited to chop into. Here are some ideas on how you can celebrate and create with your families.
Zoom with a twist – My kids have created a family trivia contest using Kahoot. They had a blast making up questions and multiple choice answers about funny family lore. Now, we will compete against cousins and grandparents on Thanksgiving afternoon.
Be Thankful Box – Find a glass jar, or make your own by recycling your Juicy Juice box. Everyone in the family can fill the jar with little slips of paper listing all the things you have to be thankful for this year.
Go for a Hike – Tie on your sneakers and head outside with the family for a walk around the block, or on local wooded trails. Nature reminds us all to relax and be thankful.
Play games – We love a rousing game of Reverse Charades in our house. It works for folks of all ages. Twister or Uno works for younger kids too.
Scavenger Hunt – Create a fun scavenger hunt inside or around your home to get the entire family involved in solving clues. The final prize can be the dessert course of your Thanksgiving meal.
Get Crafty – Plan a family craft session and display your art! Check out this fun Create Your Own Turkey Cone from Juicy Juice.
Thinking of you this Thanksgiving season and wishing you all peace and love.
