What are you afraid of? Nickelodeon is counting on creepy carnival folk and an evil ringmaster.
“Are You Afraid of the Dark,” the popular series from the 1990s, makes its return with three new episodes. The trailer is already out on YouTube. The series starts back up on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. Part two follows Oct. 18 and part three on Oct. 25.
The three hour-long episodes follows a new group of kids in The Midnight Society as they explore a Carnival of Doom and meet its evil ringmaster, Mr. Tophat. What starts out as a harmless scary tale turns into an actual horror story.
In the trailer, viewers meet the new members of The Midnight Society and get a taste of what they encounter in the Carnival of Doom.
The Midnight Society consists of Rachel, played by Lyliana Wray from “Top Gun: Maverick,” Gavin, played by Sam Ashe Arnold from “Best. Worst. Weekend Ever,” Akiko, played by Miya Cech from “Rim of the World” and “Always Be My Maybe,” Graham, played by Jeremy Taylor from “IT: Chapter Two” and “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” and Louise, played by Tamara Smart from “Artemis Fowl” and “The Worst Witch.” The Carnival of Doom’s ringmaster, Mr. Tophat, is played by Rafael Casal from “Blindspotting.”
“Are You Afraid of the Dark?” is produced by ACE Entertainment (“To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” and “The Perfect Date”). Executive producers are Matt Kaplan and Spencer Berman.
The series is written by BenDavid Grabinski and directed by Dean Isrealite. They and Chris Foss are also executive producers of the series.
