My focus this year is breaking bad eating habits and leading a healthier, happier life. The start of 2016 has been a little rocky but I started exercising plus studying how to eat “clean” and work on portion control. It’s so easy to over eat! I’ve also been looking to supplement a few meals with a protein shake. I discovered Purely Inspired Organic at Walmart and after reading the label I thought I’d give it a shot.
Purely Inspired Protein Powder comes in two flavors- French Vanilla and Decadent Chocolate. The powder makes an organic 100% plant-based nutritional shake with no artificial colors or additives. It is also vegan, dairy and soy free as well as cholesterol free. The price point is at $19.95 which is cost effective! Plus, I love that it is made in the USA. I tasted the powder right out of the tub. What did it taste like? A waffle cone. Not bad! I mixed the French Vanilla powder into a Banana Almond Protein Shake. I’ve supplemented a few breakfasts with this shake and so far I love it! The shake has not left behind a “metallic” after taste I’ve experienced with other brands.
Here’s my recipe if you want to try it out!
Break out your blender and grab these ingredients:
* 2 scoops of Purely Inspired French vanilla
* 1 whole banana
* 5.3 oz Greek Vanilla Yogurt
* Handful of raw almonds
* 1 cup of water (you can use milk, almond milk, etc — I’m trying to cut back on dairy intake and using water helps metabolize the protein faster)
* Drizzle Honey on top for an extra sweet touch (optional)
Throw everything into your blender and blend. You can always adjust ingredient amounts to suit your taste. I liked the chunky almond texture mixed with the French Vanilla flavor.
On-the-go? Fill up an insulated container with your shake. Or, carry the protein with you and shake and go later in the day (with water). I also tried the Muscletech Mission1™ Clean Protein bars. The bars come in three flavors: Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Chocolate Brownie. My favorite was the Cookies & Cream flavor. It feels like I’m cheating but the bars have no artificial ingredients! I threw a few in my backpack for when I need a protein boost during the day. Their available in a 4 pack box ($6.94) or you can buy an individual bar ($1.84).
Reaching my goals seem a little bit easier and a lot more tasty! I enjoy creating nutritious and delicious shakes that satisfy and keep me “full”. One of my vices is snacking. I wind up eating way too much throughout the day. The shakes have kept these cravings at bay a while I take steps towards a cleaner diet. This paired with my amped up walking routine has made a difference the past few weeks. I’m feeling happy, fit and wholesome!
