Congratulations to Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor on the opening of their newest location in Buena Park! For many, Farrell’s is filled with fond childhood memories as it was the IT place to eat. Now fans can reminisce and create new memories in the OC. I jumped at the chance to attend a private event at the restaurant prior to it’s opening. I wanted to see what the fuss was all about. From the moment that I walked in through the double doors, I knew that we were in for a good time. Guests are greeted by friendly waitstaff dressed in vests, pinstripes and hats. We stepped into an old fashioned family- friendly diner experience with delicious American food options and ice cream desserts. We ready for good grub and to cause a ruckus!
We were seated in front of the open-aired kitchen which is always fun for kids. But we were definitely drawn to what was happening in the dining room! It took us awhile to decide because everything looked good on the menu. A newspaper styled menu unveils an impressive selection of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, salads and of course dessert.
Delicious Food
Farrell’s Ooey Gooey Cheese Sticks – what can I say? These oozing cheese delights didn’t last long!

Talk of the Town is their most popular burger and it was scrumptious. Definitely, one of my favorite burgers yet. The onion bun, combined with a sizzling flame-broiled beef pattie, topped with bacon made for a memorable burger. I order my burgers well done and it was cooked perfect!
My daughter ordered the Mac ‘N Cheese, Please! from the Junior Scoops menu. She is super duper pickey when it comes to mac and cheese and she was not a fan. We did order a back up meal of Chickety Dippers and that hit a home run. Two large juicy pieces of chicken served with french fries was perfect for our 6YO.
Service
Our waitress Brittani, shared her love of Farrell’s with us. She was at Six Flag’s Magic Mountain when she learned that Farrell’s was opening a restaurant in her home town. “I cried when I found out. You know how people have a dream job? Working at Farrell’s is my dream restaurant job”. It was refreshing to meet someone who was passionate about their work. This is the type of enthusiasm that we saw from all of the employees at Farrell’s. They seem to sincerely enjoy what they do and strive to make your dining experience wonderful!
If you are looking for a quiet meal then Farrell’s is not for you. Farrell’s is for you if you want a loud, fun and energetic atmosphere. People come here for good food, celebrating and pure fun. The staff cheers, sings and even bangs on drums. Get the picture? My kid loved it here so consider Farrell’s for your next birthday party. Your kids can cause a commotion and no one will even bat an eyelash at them.
>There are seven Farrell’s locations in California. Founded in Oregon in 1963 by Bob Farrel, the business has gone through some management changes but they haven’t lost track of fresh classic food and the Farrell’s spirit. Farrell’s is located at 8650 Beach Blvd in Buena Park across from Knotts!
* We were invited to the soft opening of Farrell’s. Food was provided by Farrell’s. This will in no way sway our opinion of the product or service. The review is in our own words and is our opinion. Your results and opinions may differ.
